As we make our way through the last days of winter, I'm excited to share with you some really cool tech articles I've come across. This month's Dev Breakfast could be particularly interesting for those curious about mobile development. So, let’s pause for a moment with our preferred morning drink and catch up with the updates.
Meet our curator of the month
Mariia is a software developer who enjoys working on architecture and UI/UX design. She builds mobile apps for both iOS and Android platforms using Swift and Kotlin. She has been working in various projects, from banking to messaging and marketplace apps. Be it iOS, Android, or any other platform, accessibility is essential. In ever-evolving software development landscape, keeping up with global guidelines like the WCAG, as well as specific regulations across different countries, can be a challenge. This article provides a comprehensive overview which not only highlights these important standards but also shares the practicalities of implementing them effectively. A very informative reading for anyone looking to enhance their app's accessibility.
In February, the first deliveries of Vision Pro, Apple's device for Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), began. This headset is not just another step forward in immersive technology, but also an interesting opportunity for developers to dive right in, because it already shares many tools with other Apple platforms. In this article, Majid explains how SwiftUI, a tool already well-known and loved by Apple developers, seamlessly integrates into this new and exciting platform.
Have you been intrigued by React Native or Flutter but hesitant to delve into TypeScript or Dart? Let me introduce you to another promising contender in the world of app development: Compose Multiplatform, developed in Kotlin. This declarative framework, crafted by the experts at JetBrains, brings a new perspective to cross-platform development. Though its iOS support is currently in alpha, Compose Multiplatform already offers a solid range of functions to explore. This makes it an exciting option for developers looking to leverage Kotlin's knowledge in a multiplatform environment.
What emerging technologies or trends are you excited about?
Lately, I’ve been curious whether devices like Apple’s Vision Pro could eventually replace smartphones as our primary tech companions at some point in the future. It would be interesting to have AR working all the time - imagine the convenience of enhanced navigation, where directions and information overlay seamlessly onto the real world! But it's not just about navigation; The integration of AR into our routine could redefine the way we interact with information, entertainment, and even each other. Will devices like Vision Pro lead us into a new era where the physical and digital worlds blend more seamlessly? Only time will tell, but it's certainly an intriguing future to contemplate!
What hobbies or interests are you passionate about?
As a language learner, I’m excited about how modern technologies transform the study process. Take image text recognition, for instance (especially for complex languages like Japanese). Furthermore, the rise of AI-driven chat platforms, like GenAI chats, is redefining how we explore the grammar of languages, such as Finnish. These platforms offer personalized and instant feedback on grammar, making it easier to understand and correct mistakes in real-time. As we continue to explore and integrate these advancements, the future of language learning seems brighter and more accessible than ever.
