Design Breakfast by Futurice

Good morning!

There is an endless debate on whether UX design is an art or science. Today, when new technologies offer artists endless possibilities to create immersive and interactive experiences, the work of an artist and designer becomes even more similar. Artists and UX designers actually use very similar methods to understand their audience and create the desired outcome. Drawing lines between design and art becomes even more difficult. Let's explore this topic a little more in detail.

Know more about your curator

Tell us about a project you’ve worked on that you found particularly interesting or challenging.

I recently worked on a project where we designed and built the digital presence for an art organization, where the goal was not just to sell art, but to make visual arts available to all. Digital solutions bring endless possibilities for accessibility and overall experience. It was an extremely interesting research project, and in the end, we were surprised by how simple the things users really wanted were. Sometimes digital and physical just need to work seamlessly together to enable the best possible personal experience - even when experiencing art.

How do you stay updated on the latest industry trends and technologies?

I have an addiction to art, especially visual arts. Art reflects what’s happening in the world and what’s coming. By visiting museums and galleries or just browsing art blogs on your mobile, you are not only getting inspiration and awakening your brain cells but also staying up to date on what’s going on in the world.

What hobbies or interests are you passionate about?

My current project is related to trains and the usage of tracks, which let me buy an amazing set of Brio train systems for my 2.5 year old daughter. We have been playing with it every day, creating whole new worlds in our living room. Now I found out, that there are adapters available for connecting Duplos to the Brio traks. This will definitely take our creations to a whole new level.
