This keynote is one of the most inspiring talks I have listened to in recent months. Benedict Evans gives a macro perspective on changes in the tech industry, Future (Tech visions for what’s next) Present (Start up´s deploy the ideas of the last decade), and Catching up (Old economy adjusts the ideas from the 2000s). Name one superpower that makes you different from the others One superpower I have and also learning to get better every day is simplifying complex things, storytelling, and visually communicating them. This skill is fundamental for aligning multiple stakeholders on vision, objectives, and future outcomes.
What would you have wanted to tell yourself 5 years back Spending more time developing soft skills, for example communication, leadership, assertiveness, adaptability, etc. Understanding how different personalities work together (for instance, DISC profiles) and adapting accordingly. I think this is an essential part of teamwork and getting better outcomes.
One thing you would recommend all designers to try out? Don’t fall in love with your design. Instead, I would suggest designers put themselves into the shoes of business decision-makers as much as customers and challenge ideas. My approach is switching from thinking like a designer to thinking like a business person and outcomes. Then switching back to thinking like a designer. It is a back, and forth mindset change to be objective. It was not easy initially, but it settled with the time.
Most interesting design case you’ve worked with... This is a bit difficult question to answer since many of the projects are confidential, but if I name one that could be the Chefstein project. It was interesting because the multidisciplinary team of business designers, Service & UI designers, data scientists, and developers worked in great harmony to define and solve the correct problems, whether a UX, data, or holistic CX. In addition, we have worked on strategical, operational, and tactical levels while redesigning the product.
